Random scenario test drive meme! For all you thinking about apping to our fair game. Because all our characters are the modern reincarnates of the people we canon reviewed for, you need a modern AU! Post your character with a couple details about who they are now. Use a prompt to set the scene! And tag around.
RAIN: The weather sucks and you gotta share a bus stop, overhang, or other cozy space with someone.
MONSTERS IN THE PARK: Doesn't really matter what they are, it's time to run and/or fight!
NEW ECHO: augh you were minding your own business in public and now you have feathers for hair, or you just had a vivid flashback to being a wizard, or suddenly you have your preincarnation's clothes on. Someone help! Or point and laugh, that works too.
NORMAL DAY AT THE MALL OR WHEREVER: Slice of life happens too!
WILD CARD: You can't be contained by these paltry prompts! Get out there and combine them or make your own!

"I promise. No more comments from me." She playfully nudged his shoulder with hers, chuckling lightly. Her arm draped around his waist, and she called out to Elise just as Lucas asked about lunch. The sound of the phone buzzing reached her ears though, and she felt a bit of dread. Lucas was a busy man, with his work, but she kind of hoped he didn't have to disappear on them. This was a nice day, and she selfishly wanted it to continue. The moment was worth savoring.
"That sounds good... Sounds like someone else wants your attention though." She said playfully, nodding to the phone in his pocket.
oh wow, it was a good thing I went to bed part of that reply didn't even make sense. >.<
Luckily the voice to greet him on the other was the usual cheerful tone of the woman, who once followed him around like a little duckling in her youth. Though he found he wasn't feeling too particularly happy about the content of the call. His parents were smart in choosing their representative as Lucas could rarely say no to Sylvie. He sighed heavily as he hung up the phone and moved back over to Hannah and Elise.
"Well apparently Brandon is back from his doing his relief work and my parents want to throw him a big welcome home dinner. So I hope you didn't make any plans for tonight." He said with a slight grimace, clearly he wasn't looking forward to being around the entire clan at once. He would have preferred, the call had been work related at this point.

"Oi, you can't do that!" Hannah laughed, gently reaching out to move the toy before it reached her mouth.
The last thing she wanted was for Elise getting sick from chewing on things that a dozen other kids had undoubtedly touched, sneezed on and chewed on themselves. Neither Hannah or Elise got sick often, but the risk was still there. As Elise started to lightly bounce the toy off of the table instead, Hannah looked over to Lucas just in time to see him get off the phone, looking less than pleased.
Well, his news ruined the plans she'd had for them both tonight. She sighed audibly, unable to hide her feelings on the matter. It wasn't that she disliked his family, by any means. Since her own parents had died, she appreciated her new one, but she had been looking forward to some alone time with Lucas.
"It's alright." She stood, placing an arm around his shoulders and lowering her voice so no one but Lucas could hear. "I did have something, but part one can wait. Part two will depend on how tired you are when we get back."
With a laugh, and a little grin she rested her head on his shoulder.

"Truly, I am sorry, darling. I promise that I will make it up to you." He replied in a low voice. He could certainly tell she was a bit put out by the impromptu family get together, but he appreciated that she understood. There were times he wanted to punt his younger brother like a football, but he was still family. And despite the inconvenience to their plans, he had to admit it was a good excuse to get the entire family together outside of just major holidays.
His parents could be crafty indeed, though he guessed he had to have gotten the trait from somewhere. He did note that now that they were getting on in age, they were taking more time for themselves. He was even quite surprised when his mother had insisted that she watch over Elise at least one day per week, giving the daytime nanny they employed for their work weeks an extra day off.

"Really, it's fine. Family is important, and I don't think we've all been together since... the holidays, yeah?" She was sure that it had been that long since the entire clan had gathered together.
"Did they want us to bring anything? We could buy something to take over?" It seemed like the polite thing to do, considering they were inviting them over. But she'd leave that decision to Lucas. There was no way Hannah could cook something decent in time for the dinner. She wasn't exactly the greatest cook anyway.
no subject
"About that, yeah. It's likely the reason why my parents wanted to do a family dinner. Let's just hope that everyone can behave themselves." He added with a small laugh, before calling to Elise not put something she was holding in her mouth. Within moments he had released his light grip on Hannah and moved over to Elise, quickly scooping up the small child, while simultaneously taking the toy out of her hand. The baby only lightly protested already growing tired from the morning outing, that she simply opted to chew on her dad's shoulder instead.
"I'm actually not sure, I'll call my mother once we get home and ask her if she needs us to bring anything." He finally answered, turning back to Hannah with a smile. "I think someone is going to need a nap after lunch." He added, rubbing Elise's back as she shifted in his arms and nuzzled against him.

She both grimaced and laughed at Elise moving to put another toy in her mouth, and Lucas's quick actions to prevent her from actually doing it. Moving in to close the gap between them all, she stroked Elise's hair gently, recognising that the little one was starting to tire.
"I think so too. Or else she'll be grumpy all evening." She said, turning her attention back to Lucas. Elise was a sweetie but when she got grumpy, she got grumpy.
no subject
"If she gets grumpy, we'll pawn her off on her grandma." He joked, still rubbing a hand over Elise's back. "Do you have a preference for lunch?" He asked after a moment, moving to place an arm her shoulder, while he carried their daughter in his other arm.
no subject
"I'm sure grandma will love that." She chuckled, giving Elise's head a playful, gentle rub. Hannah had to think about that for a moment, but she couldn't really think of anything that she craved over anything else.
"Not really, actually. I think I'd be content with just about anything right now. What about you?"
no subject
As to prove his point, Elise tiredly rubbed at her face, something she would only do when she was low on energy. Though he couldn't be too surprised, she usually got up bright and early, seemingly bursting with energy, while demanding they play with her. Which undoubtedly meant by noon, she was out cold for her nap.
"If someone takes her nap, that would give us a little time alone." He added in a sly voice, as they didn't have to be at his parents until the evening, which still gave them the afternoon for some quality time.
no subject
"Let's do that. There's a couple of decent places where we should be able to get something." She said, placing her hand on Lucas' back. Leaning on him slightly. A mischievous grin played across her lips the moment he mentioned quality time.
"Oh? Not like I can object to that."
no subject
"Shall we go then?" He asked, nodding toward the exit of the store. They still had to walk back to their car and then there was the matter of calling ahead to one of the neighboring restaurants to put in an order for pick up.
"If mom needs us to bring anything, I'll just make a short trip to the store later." He added, looking forward to getting to spend a little time alone with Hannah, before they had to go spend time with his family.
no subject
"Sounds like a plan! I'll make the call to the restaurant in the car, ok? What'd you feel like?"
She was indeed looking forward to a little time alone with Lucas too. It felt like it'd been a little too long since they'd last had a chance like this, and she welcomed it with open arms.

He didn't really care what they chose to eat, since he didn't have any particular cravings himself. It was more a matter of he knew he should eat, otherwise he'd be starving later and end up gorging himself. Inevitably that would lead to him having a restless night, which frankly he wanted to avoid.

With her phone in her hands, she looked at Lucas carrying Elise, smiling at them. He really was a doting dad, and she could see he was going to look out for the kid. He already spoiled her, but so did she. Honestly, she was proud to have him as a husband; he was everything she could have wanted. Marriage had never been the focus of her life, and she wouldn't have been devastated if she'd never gotten hitched, but... she was happy she found him. After quite a few shitty turns, life was good.
"Looks like its Chinese food. I think they were pretty good last time I got from there." She shrugged, turning her attention back to her phone, and the restaurant details on the screen.

"That sounds fine. Be sure to order noodles instead of rice." He said simply, as he usually enjoyed any of the entrees with noodles over rice. It wasn't necessarily the healthiest, but it was not as though either of them ate poorly on a regular basis. So a splurge here and there would hardly effect his weight.
no subject
"Will do." she answered, quite liking that idea herself. There was nothing wrong with splurging every once in a while, indeed. Though before she gave the restaurant a call, she gave Elise's hair a light stroke, with a loving smile. The poor girl really did need her rest.
"It's all right, we'll be home soon." She said, in a soft and soothing tone before she dialed the restaurant's number, inquiring about their deals and specials as they walked out of the mall.
no subject
"It's the Chinese restaurant closest to our neighborhood right?" He asked, Hannah as he got into the driver side and buckled himself in.
Mentally he was checking off his to do list as he waited for Hannah to settle in. The matter of food would be shortly handled, then they would have to put Elise to bed and he would have to call his mother. After that they would get a couple of hours to themselves before they had to go to dinner with his family. So unless something else cropped up, everything was looking like smooth sailing for them.
no subject
"Sure is! It's that one about ten minutes from our place." She answered, buckling herself in. "They said they'd be about 15 minutes, so it should be ready by the time we get there!"
no subject
"What entrees did you end up settling on?" He asked curiously. Not that it really mattered, he had enough confidence in Hannah to know she would choose things that he liked.
Though the question was interrupted by Elise asking for a drink of water.
"Sweetheart, you'll have to wait until we get to the restaurant." He said, gently as he was fairly certain the water bottles they had in the car were too hot to drink at this point.
no subject
"It's okay, it won't be too long." She reassured her, even as the little one pouted. Though they were lucky Elise wasn't the type to throw a tantrum easily. She was an easy-going child who seemed to understand the concept of waiting for the most part.
Turning back in her seat, she closed her eyes for a moment.
"I got us the vegetarian spring rolls with sweet chilli sauce. They came as a part of the meal pack." She answered Lucas' question softly, now gazing out of her window.
"And I got us the Singapore noodles, beef with black bean, and Mongolian lamb. That was the smallest deal they had." Yep. There was definitely going to be leftovers.
no subject
"Are you alright, dearest?" He asked, just wanting to be certain that she wasn't going to a dark place on him. Not that it was something she would normally do, but as a psychologist aware of the traumas of her past, he couldn't help but keep an eye out for any signs.
no subject
"I'm alright, just feeling a little tired. I stayed up a little too late last night." She grinned, squeezing his shoulder. Her actions insisting that she was fine.
no subject
Thus the moment he had to stop for a red light, he leaned over and placed a kiss on the side of Hannah's neck.
"If things get too tedious at my folks tonight, we can cut out early. I'll make an excuse about work if I need too. It's not as though they can check."
no subject
"Alright. It should be fine, though. It's my own fault for getting hooked on that silly crime show." She laughed, kissing his cheek again just for good measure.
