New-Toushirou would honestly be kind of impressed with his former self in some ways. So . . . a captain of death gods (that . . . apparently protect souls instead of devouring them or whatever, so that makes being a death god okay), with a whole whack of useful powers and people that actually listen to him. He can get behind that.

On the other hand, New-Toushirou would be rather unimpressed with the fact that Old-Toushirou didn't see what kind of danger was around his own best friend for years and years and start criticizing him for his screw-ups in protecting her. Because being critical solves everything.

Old-Toushirou doesn't really know how to deal with kids, but if this is really him, then it shouldn't be that hard, right? Don't have to treat him as much like a kid. Except shutting him down when the kid is being a brat and getting on his case about how he wasn't able to protect Hinamori. Shut up, child. They alternate butting heads and getting along fine, because that's how people like them roll.

As a side note, Old-Toushirou is quietly unhappy that his new self gets to be taller. And New-Toushirou starts mentally griping that future echoes may make him shrink. Not. Fair.

There would be a pretty solid language barrier between Wander and Walter, which would impede conversation, but the two would be able to communicate via drawings/overexaggerated charades. Unless Walt echo'd back the Simlish language; then they could shittalk behind everyone's back. FUCK YEAH.

Wander would be a little standoffish but incredibly curious about the modern world. He'd end up climbing various structures in an attempt to get his bearings while Walter tries to coax him down and he might try to hunt for food because what is a modern kitchen, seriously. He'd think that Walter has been a bit babied, but pities him because shit is going to get AWFUL for him once more tentacle echoes start coming in, and it isn't even Walter's fault. He didn't make any stupid deals with morally ambiguous gods.

Walter would initially think that Wander is kind of cool and try to learn everything about him buuuuuut the relationship would start to crumble after he learns about the aforementioned deal with a demon-esque entity. That's pretty bad, yo. And he's not a Shingeki after all, oh no.

I am pretty sure he said exactly that. Word-for-word. Verbatim! He also said that your butt wasn't as great as his, but I am withholding judgement for now. Would you mind turning around there?

Old!Fai would be really happy to find a version of him that hasn't been dragged through ~~every horror the sadistic minds of certain mangaka can come up with~~ more or less hell, and who because of this is a rather honest and forthright person. On the other hand, he would be absolutely horrified to learn that Fay doesn't have a twin, and that there are no signs of that he exists in his world. Fay also would literally make him feel pretty damn old, since he's had a normal human lifespan and not lived for hundreds of years.

Oh, and he would probably slap Fay across the face because he skipped out on his family and stays away out of fear. Because seriously he actually has a family from the start ~~that doesn't want him dead~~, and should fight for them.

New!Fai/Fay would be confused and a little bit unnerved to meet a version of himself that has been so considerably fucked up by such an amount of suffering, and find the pretendy smiles and lingering tendencies towards lying pretty damn annoying. He would also be kind of deeply embarrassed by Old!Fai's huge lack of ihibitions in almost every aspect save the emotional, and weirded out by his way of interacting with... well, everyone. Basically he would interpret the whole thing as seeing a version of himself that has been broken by life and therefore gone kind of crazy, and would not find it to be a nurturing experience.

If he remembers Infinity at that time and the way old!him treated Kurogane, he would definitely return that slap. Because seriously what the fuck.

~~...he would however be vainly pleased that the Echoes will mean that he probably won't age much. Silly man.~~

Vin and Vanessa are a weird pair and neither one quite seems to know what to make of the other. They get along well enough and trade some stories about life on the streets but mostly keep things distant.

Vanessa is a little surprised that her preincarnated self ended up being a hero to so many, something she definitely doesn't see the potential for in herself. The idea of actually taking down an entire empire seems overwhelming to her, to say nothing of finding a home and a family out of what remained.

Vin is both a little jealous of her reincarnation growing up in a world without the hardships of Scadrial and sad that she grew up without an older brother to look after her, and a mentor like Kelsier. Because as hard as Reen could be, he did make her strong enough to survive. She tries to pass on some hope for the same, but she's pretty bad at it.

Vanessa does take the opportunity to learn more about Allomancy though, and Vin helps her hone her skills in it even further.

Old!Hajime would be a thousand sorts of jealous that New!Hajime has a family and is a human. (Or at least was a human up until Echoes started kicking in.) He would be trying not to let on to this. He'll probably also feel kind of bad that New!Hajime is having trouble with that whole "being an Undead" thing.

New!Hajime would be wondering just how it was that this guy even managed to deal with being what he is and sort of surprised the original functions as well in human society as he does. He'd also be very interested in how the original manages not to be a crazed monster anymore.

I'll give you that. Even though you're still not doing well.

Old!Arthur is actually somewhat exasperated at the way New!Arthur has been behaving so irresponsibly throughout his life and does not know what to make of the tattoo.

New!Arthur is freaking out at Old!Arthur's having a kid and a family, although he thinks being a king is pretty dang cool.

They both end up telling an incredibly long-winded round of stories to each other and anyone else they think will listen. (Have fun dealing with TWO OF THEM, everyone else.)

Mort spends maybe...thirty seconds with Maki before quietly starting to diagnose the man, because this guy has serious issues. He doesn't want to end up like this at all. Put down the doll and just talk to him, Dr. Maki.

Maki, meanwhile, is disgusted by Mort and Mort's desire to help others. The whole idea of reincarnation frustrates him, since it's more focused on new beginnings rather than the endings he craves.

New!Shiro is 500% terrified by his old self. A monster! DEFINITELY A MONSTER with a hole in his chest and fangs and klsjdaksda creepy. New!Shiro is increasingly scared of the monster he's destined to become. He also thinks Old!Shiro is straight up crazy and antisocial.

Meanwhile, Old!Shiro is disgusted by this pathetic, weak human he's been reincarnated as. A total wimp and a chef? At least he appreciates food. Too bad it's lame gross human food and not proper souls. He thinks new!Shiro is a coward, with his priorities in the wrong place. He isn't good enough at protecting Ichigo/Mamoru, and that's their damn job. He also thinks all of New!Shiro's "friendships" are just asking for trouble. Weaknesses, waiting to be exploited. He thinks its high time for Shiro Nakamura to embrace his true nature.

They COULD maybe see eye to eye, if New!Shiro wouldn't stop running away and hiding.

Ymir would probably be intensely jealous of Blaine who, while not having had a nice childhood, at least was "only" neglected and has grown up at a normal rate so far. She would also be seriously pissed off at her aimlessness, and be torn between pity and well-that-makes-it-easier-for-you regarding Blaine not having a most important person.

Blaine would think if Ymir as a kindred spirit and then proceed to ask about all the details of her former life so she knows what will be going on with the echoes and has superior knowledge and control over them. Also over all others from her world.

Then Ymir would employ Blaine's help to find Chloe in the hopes of Christa being somewhere around her. And Blaine would shake her head in incomprehension at that impractical devotion.

new!bananas would sort of marvel over old!bananas circa ep 6 because he's actually a badass who more or less knows what he's doing by then. which is leagues more than his reincarnation has at the moment. 1. is in control of his near-sentient mech that has a penchant for chewing up people's souls and spitting them back out, 2. has no problem getting yelly at the froofy antagonists et al., 3. got the girl, 4. saved everyone and foiled a bunch of conspirators' plans while doing so IN SPAAAACE.

no i'm kidding, but he probably wouldn't even know how to share his insight just yet since he's still in the thick of his ongoing canon. old!bananas might be just the slightest bit jealous that new!bananas has grown up with his mother (not in a shitheap of a colony, if the novels are anything to go by) and that he's slightly more well-adjusted. he'd also be horrified that his reincarnate isn't obsessively latching onto audrey/mineva he needs her to need him space puberty is hard and no one understands. they'd be mutually annoyed in some circular way that they have to go through all of that bs again.
