The Train to STE Meme (SPOILERS for canon deaths)


You know those Train to the Afterlife memes? In STE the canon versions of all our characters are dead. What if there was a train bearing their spirits on to reincarnation here?

This is a meme where canon versions of the characters can interact. They all know they're dead. They may or may not remember just how they died, or how they got to be on this particular train. Doesn't matter if they'll be born decades apart - that just means some people disembark a little earlier than others. Go over brochures about what your new incarnation will be like, spontaneously turn or be human, try the snack cart, fail to convince the friendly but very busy conductor to give you a transfer, or simply chat.

You just can't stop the train, or leave it. Not yet.

She flicks back to the start of the brochure, where she's written a very long, very 8-filled letter to 'whoever is in charge of the reincarn8tion hoof8eastshit,' and holds it up for inspection.

"I also wrote threats to the person in charge so they will be too terrified to disregard my humble and incredibly fair little ittybitty requests! So it can't fail."

[Zangetsu is stretched out over several seats, his sword form in his lap and a cleaning rag in one hand. He had to find SOME way to pass the time. He growls]

[The Peacock Undead is not amused. It might not be immediately obvious, for the emotions of a seven-foot tall bird monster can be difficult to judge. But the hunched, tensed way he holds himself as he sits in one of the seats and the way that he glares at anything that crosses his path is telling. The crumpled brochures littered around him are also indicative of displeasure with the situation. Several of them are charred and still smouldering.

Revolting. This is revolting, what's happening to him. It was torment, the near-eternity of being sealed away and being only dimly aware of the passage of ages and ages, but he would take that over the fate of becoming human.

If anyone walks too close or tries to sit next to him, they're getting a telekinetic smack. A weak one, mind you, because he can already feel his power fading away. Best to use it while he's still got it.]

"Lemme see that," he growls before snatching it right out of her stupid hands. He narrows his eyes and reads over it, then throws it back at it. Of course, throwing paper doesn't work too well, so it flutters midair and lands in the aisle.

"No one's gonna read that!! No one can read it! Why are there so many '8's?! Besides, I think these are just for our information. If we could pick our own fates, dontcha think everyone would be doin' it?"

[ Sora catches the sad look on his face - huh - before settling in more comfortably, patting his pockets for something. ]

You're the second guy to tell me that in the last... [ Uh. He scratches the back of his head. ] Well, since I got here! Have you been to the snack cart yet?

"Nope. Some idiot losers might be dumb enough to lose their pamphlets somehow." Grin, grin. "You know. By dropping it in the load gaper? Losing it under a seat? Ripping it up?"

She leans into the aisle, grabs the brochure, and stuffs it into the back of her pants. Smiling sweetly all the while, of course.

"Imagine being that stupid. Wow."

Glorfindel has died once before, and never really intended to do it again, but sometimes things just don't work out how you plan. This is not the Halls of Mandos, though; he knows those halls well after his first death. So he was keen to explore, first, to wander up and down the strange moving, seated hall ways, and he can be caught glancing curiously at the other passengers.

Later, though, he can be found with a brochure, frowning as he reads through it, trying to make sense of the world and the man explained in it. So much makes no sense to him. Eventually, he'll look up and speak aloud to the carriage in general: "Does anyone know what a 'print shoot' is?"

There's a cheerful man who looks far too young and uninjured to be dead, cheerfully peering over all the sweets on the snack cart. "No salmiakki? Shame! Well, the chocolate looks nice too, maybe I'll have some of that. Or, hmm. Maybe I should have a sandwich? How long are we going to be stuck here?"

Or you might see him later, curled up with a small frown as he reads his brochure. He's small, and his features are fairly feminine, but definitely not as feminine as the young lady on the front cover, which he keeps flicking back to, partly in disbelief. At least he won't have to be self conscious about his hips any more?

[For a dead man, Hajime feels pretty at peace with the world. He has to wonder how an immortal such as himself ended up in his position. It doesn't make a lot of sense. But the things that brochure offered...a chance to become human? Truly human? With a family and emotions and everything? It's what he wants more than anything.

Plus, the brochure said something about his having a sister. He's not sure, and he's ashamed of himself for hoping, but he's all over the train now, searching for someone. Would it be Amane? Could it be Amane?]

It appears as though they'll let anyone on this train.

[Oh, look, it's another Undead who isn't bothered in the least by the idea of becoming a human.]

[Even kings have to die sometime, and dying in old age of a wound sustained while trying to SAVE THE WORLD doesn't seem like such a bad way to go. Arthur Jr. is secure on the throne of Atlantis, and while Arthur misses his wife, Mera, he's going to maintain the hope that he'll see her again someday.

So he'll turn to the person sitting next to him and give them a hearty slap on the back.]

This adventure's going to be OUTRAGEOUS!

[Hey, if you're dead and going to be reincarnated, might as well enjoy it.]

[The bird-dinosaur-man flipping through the brochure seems slightly amused more than anything else. He'd lived a hundred million years and had escaped this train on more than one occasion when it looked like he'd be boarding. This doesn't seem worth getting worked up over in comparison to other events in his previous long life.]

[ Toph Beifong doesn't mind being dead (or randomly thirteen again? WHATEVER). She guesses. She lived a good life, yadda yadda yadda, invented metalbending, mastered sandbending, had good friends, picked up a daughter somewhere, kicked a city into shape, got a huge statue of herself.

All pretty cool things, if she does say so herself.

What she does mind is this stupid brochure. ]

[ Maybe someone should let her in on the details of her future reincarnation, because this is just plain Rude. ]

[Roxy ambles over, having spent most of her time wandering the cars.]

[ At some point in time Serah got a window seat. Of course, she doesn't remember that point in time...just that when she became aware she was on a train, she was sitting by the window, watching the scenery - such as it was - speed by. She's at least aware she's dead, and she might even remember how it happened...

Whatever the case, she seems more or less at peace with that, and doesn't appear to be trying to get a transfer or to disembark.

She'd already read her brochure earlier; for now, she sits looking out the window, and occasionally glancing around, as though searching for familiar faces - though she smiles at anyone who passes by. Those she doesn't know may get a curious question. ]

[ Aradia Megido had said she was done with dying, but, well - everything and everyone died eventually. Even if she can't quite remember how this came about, she's perfectly fine with the results, though this method of resurrection seems a bit haphazard to her.

She's studying her brochure with intense interest, trying to decide what she thinks of the girl she's going to be.

Well, it doesn't sound that bad, anyway. Alien, in a human way, but not bad. ]

This isn't how resurrection is meant to work, though.

[ Sora thinks for a moment. Gandalf, Gandalf... He shakes his head sadly, casting his spell and covering them both in green light. That there's a Curaga. If there's something that isn't patched up by now, well. Now it is. ]

I guess I've never been to your world! Crazy. What is it like?

[ What is this braille of which you speak, Roxy. :|a Toph hasn't the slightest idea who this girl is - at least a train is metal, so she can "see" - but the offer sounds like a good one. She holds out the brochure, which so far she hadn't even bothered to open. ]

If this is stuff I should know, I'd like to know it. Why couldn't they have just told me face to face?

[Kili's distracted by the sudden lack of pain and takes a few moments to move around. He doesn't move to sit up properly since he's comfortable here, but he does shift a bit more]

Middle-earth? I don't know how to describe it.
