Or the entire block is trashed and you'll be needing an alternate route to work. Or your workplace is trashed, if not some real estate you had in the area, and you'll be needing a helping hand - or are trying to offer one!
> Help, help, I've been robbed - your bag or wallet's just been snatched, or is in the process of being snatched. Catch the snatcher or rough them up - you may or may not be surprised, if you come to blows or a chase, to find on throwing a punch that they're much quicker and/or sturdier than you'd have expected. Cleanup of downtown Locke City

[Liam had come downtown to see the extent of the damage. Part of the reason he was back in Locke was to help Rain Industries restore the place - but it was worse than he'd thought. He runs a hand through his hair and sighs.]

Aw, crap.

[youngestone]

[Killian's just walking past as this is the shortest and safest route to the smithy from the mall. Still, he can't help but call out]

It gets worse the further that way you go. [He points] This area's actually looking good.

[Liam turns towards the voice, then glances down where the other was pointing.]

Really?! Ugh. This is going to take a serious amount of work.

Yes, yes it is. Why d'you think people are still pressing for more clean up crews? Were you here when the monster thing attacked? Some places still don't have electricity.

[arrowpoint]

No, but I heard about it.

[A pause. He looks up at a nearby crumbling building.]

And yeah, that's kind of why I'm here in the first place.

To volunteer?

[Killian kind of eyes him warily]

Please tell me you know what you're doing, at least? I mean, any help's great but help that has an idea of what the fuck they're doing's even better.

[Ariel was on the prowl for a new coffee shop, when she passes him, seeing his expression that sort of matched her own.]

Tell me about it. My favorite coffee shop was destroyed in this mess.

[He turns to look at her.]

Good luck finding a new one, then. This looks pretty bad.

[A small sigh.] I only moved here last autumn so I'm still trying to learn my way around. Now it's just impossible.

Oh? That's cool. I know my way around - sort of. I used to come here every summer.

[He looks around.]

But it's kind of hard to see where everything is now, and some places might have moved or changed owners.

Or been utterly destroyed. [She gestures tot he business district.] What are you doing here anyway, you look just as out of place as I am.

That's mild! Yeah, it looks pretty bad.

[A very tall bird man some feet away smiles wryly and turns his head, appearing to survey the scene. Julien's been on the news, one of the 'superheroes' who gave an exhausted interview after the monster was killed.

Somehow - maybe because he's against a wall and not moving around - he's not attracting that much attention. Really he's got a limited stealth power.]

[Liam turns towards the sound of someone speaking to him, and his eyes go wide. Even when you see something like that on the news, it's hard to accept that it's real until you see it for yourself. ]

Wow, are you for real? That's kinda cool. Can you fly?

[espigeonage]

[Well, this is a better reaction than fear. Julien smiles easily and resettles his folded wings.]

Flying...? Hard to say. I can fall with a lot of style, but I haven't really tried going up much.

Suil, by the way. -I mean, hello. [he's got a quasivoluntary tendency to greet people in Sindarin these days.]

Still, pretty awesome. If you might be able to, I mean. There's got to be a lot of good sightseeing up there.

[Liam was more curious than nervous by nature, but he didn't go any closer to the guy either. The strange word gives him a sense of deja-vu, but he ignores it for now. He nods back to answer the greeting.]

Maybe not out over here. At least the whole city's not like this. And this isn't as ugly as it was a couple weeks ago. Progress is happening, after all, even if it seems slow.

[He tips his head to one side, looking down at Liam.]

So, I'm Julien Sakazaki. You're new in town?

[Fil's out helping as well; his company's building was one of the one's that was hit. It's still standing, but there was quite a bit of damage inside and around. Currently he's helping to haul the smaller debris up into bigger piles for the machines and trucks to take away.]

Swearing isn't going to clean up this place any faster you know.

[Liam glances over to the other when he speaks, an amused smirk forming.]

Maybe not, but it makes me feel better.

[He makes his way over.]

You a volunteer?

[Fil shrugs; the new guy will soon learn not to waste his breathe swearing.]

Kind of. [He points at the office building diagonally behind them.] That's the office building I was working in when the giant snake appeared. Everyone in the office is helping with the cleanup as much as they can, whether or it's part of our building or not.

That's cool, I can understand that. How's it going so far?

[With one last kick, the extra big bag of garbage Fil was hauling was finally in a place where it's not going to collapse on someone. He dusts his hands on on his jeans before answering.]

Slowly. Really slowly. And everyone has different ideas on what should be prioritized. If they all stopped arguing it'll go faster.

[ Thursdays and Sundays on Teagan's schedule as of late have been devoted to being on-hand and on the scene. It wasn't his job as a CEO of one of the contributing repair factors, but it was his responsibility as far as he was concerned. Being numbered made him even more suspicious of ThunderCorp than he had been already, and he felt the needs to use his eyes.

Anyway, he comes up behind his nephew and hands him a hard hat.]

If you're going to be managing the volunteers, you're going to need to see the damage yourself.

[arrowpoint]

[Liam looks the hard hat over.]

Going inside, huh? I guess I'll have to at some point.

[He points down the street to a building.]

Oh, I think that really old one over there might have used asbestos for insulation. We should probably cordon it off from the volunteers who don't know what they're doing until we can confirm that or not.

[ He frowns, looking where Liam was pointing. ] That should already be cordoned off. Our construction manager told me that they caught it three days ago.

[ And his fingers go fast as hell on his phone, sending a text before he pockets it again. ]

Good catch. And put your hair up, it's going to only get in the way.

[He resists the urge to roll his eyes, and searches in his pockets for a hair tie.]

So, who am I working under? I don't thing we got to much into specifics.
