TEST DRIVE MEME
Scenarios:
> Hometown Hustle - Are you still recovering from Locke City's recent Alien Invasion? Are these murders in Vegas really getting you down? Or are you excited, for one reason or another?
> Help, help, I've been robbed! - your bag or wallet's just been snatched, or is in the process of being snatched. Catch the snatcher or rough them up - you may or may not be surprised, if you come to blows or a chase, to find on throwing a punch that they're much quicker and/or sturdier than you'd have expected. Maybe someone will dive in to back you up.
> Monster encounter! There's a Vermini infestation going around in Las Vegas that may present itself in either of two forms. One is swarms of little black... insects? Tiny little wingless people-shaped ugly fairy things? The second is animals with a nose for the Numbered and an aggressive streak with some distinct mutations - you might find a lizard with disturbingly human ears, a bird with teeth, etc.
> Transportation/travel. You're at an airport or train station, whether to escape or take a tour to a strange-events hotspot, or plain go on an innocent vacation. Mix up your bags or timetables, grab a pre-ride snack, chat up those with the same destination, get or give directions, find yourself receiving an ill-timed item Echo in front of security - whatever you can think up!
> Say - is that one of those superhumans you've spied on the street? Yes, I do believe it is - you've seen them on the news/read about them, that or their looks give them away! Go on and ask questions of them, be it for serious answers or an autograph, depending on who you are.
> ...And it looks like you're a superhuman yourself. Looks like that hollowed-out feeling you got was followed by a mutation, or some strange thing in your brain. How're you going to come to grips with it?
> Wildcard/Etc. Make up your own!
Prompts suggested by Alec and Zero.

No. No. No no no no no. It's bad enough that mum and dad moved us out here even after all the shit that's gone on, I'm not getting involved with some kind of crazy club thing too! I want out! You can tell the crazy alien things that I'm not playing the game! And if anyone wants a stupid bear necklace, come and get it!
Please. Mum keeps trying to nick it off me and the last thing I want is her seeing this stupid thing. [That's... not really how it works, Mia, but never mind.] I'd chuck it in the sea but then it's going to end up in a bloody fish or something and that's just gross.
B: Transportation | action | Locke
[A tall girl with a cloud of ginger hair is staring at the bus timetable, tapping her finger on the glass irritably.] Ach, how's anyone meant to make sense of this? [Her accent is thick but her annoyance is palpable. She's just trying to find her way
out ofround this god forsaken city. Having lived in the same town all her life dealing with a city with more than four or five bus routes is going to take a while to learn.]C: Open!
sorry it took so long for you to get a reply to this - text
But none of this is going to go away if you just pretend it doesn't exist.
I've tried.
Not a problem, I dropped it in on a whim anyway
What's it like being caught up in all this crap anyway?

Whoops! That sure was a fumbled pickpocketing. Wouldn't be the first time, but it wasn't exactly Rania's favorite way for these things to go. Best to make like a phantom and disappear into the crowd. Dull colors, no distinctive clothing—hell, she'd even kept her hair looking relatively normal today. Nobody would ever be able to catch her. Just because she didn't get anything out of it doesn't mean she drew untoward attention. Right?
b.
Seedlings? Is that what we're really calling ourselves?
I'm sure Arbor Day is a big hit around here! Hehehe.
You can call me Hermes, seedlings. I'm new here. 19/m/Locke City. >;]
I already read the FAQ, and I definitely already know about the aliens. It's hard not to know about them!
Is it S.O.P. to ask questions around here? Because I'm afraid I don't have many.
Is there anything the FAQ doesn't cover that would be important for a new sprout like me to know?
Thanks in advance. >:]

She's used to a certain level of attention and usually
laps that shit upaccepts it gracefully. Sometimes people want to touch her wings. Or take pictures. Or goggle at her freaky eye. All those things are fine. What isn't fine is people getting their thieving-ass fingers anywhere near her pants pockets. ]
Oh my god.
Oh em gee.
[ She whirls around, glowering at anyone close enough to have been the culprit. A couple of passers-by get whacked in the face by her hair. THERE ARE NO SURVIVORS. ]
WHO THE FUCK TOUCHED MY BUTT?
bless.
[okay. maybe Rania didn't need to say that. and she definitely didn't need to turn around and flash a shit-eating grin to further call attention to herself. but if her mark thought that she was just copping a feel, that was better than getting busted for screwing up a simple petty theft.]

Makino Ruki / Rika Nonaka (AU) | Digimon Tamers
[when you're walking through the streets one night, you might catch sight of a red-haired teenager. She doesn't meet your eye, she just walks along, or stands against a lamppost, staring at either the ground or into the distance. She has a pair of headphones on, listening to some kind of music. At her side is a German shepherd, who seems to follow her dutifully.
But in some cases, she isn't just standing there. In these cases, she's trying to break into an expensive looking car. In others, she has broken in, and is currently in the process of hot-wiring it.
In any case, approaching her in either scenario, benign or otherwise, would result in a cold glare, warning you from approach. Her canine companion seems to regard this with some degree of intelligence... and regret.]
You're a superhuman...! Or at least your dog is...
Rika can't believe what she's seeing. One minute... one minute she'd been running from someone who'd caught her trying to pick her pocket, and the next minute, her dog Reina was between them, warding him off with loud barks...
... and the azure-colored fire that was currently sparking from her tail. The otherwise normal german shepherd was using to ward off anyone that got too close, including her pursuer.
Rika quite frankly had no idea what to do. She just stood there, fully realizing what kind of spectacle they were causing. But how did one walk away from something like this?
[ooc - say hello to Rika Nonaka, who is an AU version of Digimon Tamers' Makino Ruki. This one has led a pretty different life, and she's more or less turned out to be a juvenile delinquent.
Her pet is just an idea for the test drive; yes, it's intended to be Renamon, but she hasn't been approved for a combo application. Just consider this an idea for the test drive]

Yes, it's late, and usually Valerie be asleep by now considering the early morning commitment but something always seems to distract him from a good nights rest.] Visiting friends again? They have some lovely furniture. Is it business or pleasure? Will you be home tonight? At least by tomorrow, right? You missed dinner, by the way, I didn't cheat while you where away. I saved my leftovers as evidence! [A yawn.] How do you stay up this late? I thought episodes of House were only thirty minutes each but apparently they are an hour long, did you know that?
-But anyway, make sure to be safe coming home. [Did you count how many breaths he took?]
Re: video;
Yeah, they said I could crash here. It's too late to catch the train back to the commune and walking would take hours. I wouldn't be home in time anyway.

Maggie Anders/Megumi Aino | Happiness Charge Precure
She's also a total and complete anime nerd and could not be happier about all these magical girls and giant mecha suddenly being real.]
A: Monster Encounter
[Today, Maggie was just minding her own goshdarned business when she suddenly catches a glimpse of something out of the corner of her eye. Something that's tiny and small and furry. Of course, she stops dead in her tracks and jabs a finger toward it.]
Ah! It's one of those vermy-whatsits!
[And of course, upon realizing it's been spotted the Vermini takes off.]
Hey! Get back here!
[... And there goes Maggie in hot pursuit! The wild chase leads her down several roads before she turns down an alley and finds herself face-to-face with a newly possessed alley cat with human hands and a pissed off look in its eyes.]
Ah.... [She skids to a stop, staring at the creature before her as it bares its fangs.] U-um... do you surrender?
[And just like that the hunter has become the hunted as Maggie flees from the monster cat with a very heroic exclamation of surprise.]
[Help?]
B: Superhero Sighted!
[Is that... no, it can't be. Or CAN IT?! Can it be that she's actually stumbled across one of the Locke City heroes, just walking around on the streets? Is this really the BEST DAY EVER?!]
[She has to make sure!
So, apologies to whoever you are but you've just picked up a fan and she's tailing you around town peeking out from behind trees and parked cars and street corners. What do.]
C: Cause I Have To
[Rescuing a cat stuck up a tree! That's a totally heroic thing to do and number two in the good deeds handbook right after helping an old lady cross the street.
Except the good deeds handbook doesn't tell you what to do when the branch you're on suddenly breaks and you're stuck upside-down holding on for dear life as the ungrateful feline happily absconds!]
AAAAH! SOMEBODY HEEEEELP!
[It isn't supposed to happen this waaaay!]
D: Wild Card! Replier's Choice!

In any case, she's going to rush in and try to catch her before she falls]

Jib Janeen | Thrilling Adventure Hour
He wasn't sure why the past version of him was so hellbent on discovering people's secrets. But it suddenly seemed like a great idea. If he was lucky, maybe he'd run into someone from the Network. That'd be a great source of information.
And so he approached the first people he could find, waving giddily.] Hi buddy! How you doing?
B | Network | Video
[Why look, it appears a familiar face has appeared on the network. Who is it? An old friend, an old enemy, who cares? The person Jib is impersonating is a little tied up at the moment, giving him the perfect chance to cause a little chaos.]
Hi all my buddies! Its me! Your pal!
So, bad news guys. I was just minding my own business, as I do, when I was attacked! By a handsome and crafty alien spy! I've got him locked up in the next room, but he's somehow made himself look like me! Its super-duper creepy.
This could mean anyone of us could be a spy! We should hunt down the impostor and hang them! Hang the spies to death! And maybe give them our secrets? Whaddya think?
[Most clever spy ever.]
B~
You got attack? Really? Are you okay?

Chrono Harlaown :: Kevin Steele | Lyrical Nanoha
[He's not sure what he's looking for, but the best way to find information is to start from the bottom and work up. There had to still be dozens of "numbered" in this city, and even if he was supposedly one himself, he wasn't really a good data source. Not when he didn't have powers or memories like the others. And besides... there are a lot of crazy personalities that would be worth talking to, in a place like this. Someone has to know something. And even if his current mission is just to watch and gather information, it's something that needs to be approached with care. So he's roaming downtown, with a cup of dark, black coffee in hand. He's content to just observe for now, although he's not afraid to talk if confronted.]
[B | network]
I know you all don't like handlers much - I wouldn't either, if I'd been in your position - but you're going to have to live with us. Myself, and the others on this case... we're not here to get in the way, or to stop you from doing the things you want to do, or to arrest you for looking at us wrong. Speaking for myself, I would love nothing more than to join you on some adventure or another. But that's not the way the world works. It's not okay for people to just do something without regard for the rest of the city around them, let alone to create a disturbance. We want to help. But you need to work with us, or the gloves are going to come off, and I won't be able to make any promises. Understand that, because once it hits the fan, there are going to be some changes here.
Now that I've just blown all my goodwill at once, I've got this fancy-looking playing card that showed up on my desk yesterday. I'm pretty sure it was "mine". Any ideas? [He holds up a shiny metallic card, indeed about the size of a playing card, with a diamond inset.] I'd appreciate advice, although if you could hold the condemnation and the screaming, that'd be nice.
[C | vermini, action]
[The park sure is loud today, what's- ah. There are vermini floating around, apparently. And Kevin is glaring at the staff that he's apparently just pulsed back, moving it to his right hand and drawing is that a gun, where did that come from-
Yep, he's definitely got a large-caliber pistol, and he's opening fire on the bird that's swooping in for the kill. The first two shots miss, and he dives aside, recovering well but still holding the staff he doesn't know how to use.]
Damn thing, you showed up at the worst possible time! Where are your instructions...!?
[D | open]
[Or, y'know, whatever you want. Kevin's application is in his journal; he's an FBI agent and the reincarnation of a mage, in his late twenties.]
C
The target of her aggression? The same bird, which she manages to cleave in two with her weapon with the help of an upwards leap. Moments later, she lands in a crouch, glaring at Kevin]
What the hell are you doing?! Get the hell out of here!

Not enough however for a mugger to suddenly go tearing off down that same sidewalk, purse in hand and his victim screaming after him. With not even a look in his direction, Lily's foot slides back and catches him in mid stride. While he smashes face first into the stone ground, the purse goes flying, and Lily now spins around to catch it out of the air.
Regardless of the good deed, her quiet shopping trip is now a bit of a commotion, and if she didn't stick out before, she does now.
