[test] THIS WEATHER IS RIDICULOUS

Random scenario test drive meme. Some prompts:
> Ah god it's so hot and muggy how awful!
> The worst thing about summer cold snaps: you don't usually have your windbreaker handy because it's been so damn hot.
> The wind is perverse and trying to steal your things and/or crash stuff into you.
> It's raining wet vermy-things, as if the hail and possible storm wasn't bad enough. Now you have rain-echoes to deal with, at best.
> A nice day? I guess those exist?

So where are you?
> Caught way out in the open! At the beach, in the steet, at a fair, anywhere.
> Taking shelter! Bus stop, club you wouldn't normally frequent, bridge underpass, any port in a storm, any shade from the deathsun.
> In the mall or somewhere comfortably out of the elements, you lucky sunuvanek.
> Somewhere... else? idk, do what you want!

Have at thee!

[It was a dark and stormy night.

Because of course it was.

Harry Dresden, paranormal investigator of middling renown was already drenched by the time he got up to the old Cooke house, supposedly one of Locke City's most haunted locales, and shook some of the rainwater from his beat up old duster.

The place certainly looked the part, old, creaking and filled with sheet-covered furniture. If there was any place in the city he'd have picked to run into something spooky then this was it.]

Okay. Let's see what you've got for me.

[ Oh great. Rain. The forecast had been calling for clear skies and he'd assumed it was a safe day for a trip to pick up some comics, but once again the weatherman had lied to them all. He didn't even take an umbrella everything was going to get so ruined.

Travis wastes absolutely no time in seeking shelter underneath the bus stop, huddling over his precious comics protectively. Hopefully, this was just a sun shower... ]

This just... ugh, this sucks.

[Well, this is odd. It's a terribly rainy afternoon and you've received a package. Upon opening it up, it seems you are now the proud new owner of an XBox One! Yaaay! Although you're not really sure how it got here, did you put in a preorder or something and maybe it got sent out early? Maybe it's some kind of marketing stunt?

Who knows?! It's yours now, and it's a terrible day anyway so why not hook it up and see how it works?]

[[OOC: this is Anthy, and her app can be found here. I'm still working on it.]]

[Somewhere on the LCU campus, on a summer day which is just beginning to cloud over...

The wind was picking up, and there was a nasty bite to it that Rita did not like at all. Shrugging on her waterproof jacket, she ran outside and grabbed a set of stakes and wires. She hadn't expected weather like this, but she knew what to do, and she began securing the most delicate plants, holding them in place so that they wouldn't bend or break. Rain and wind could do serious damage to a garden, even at this time of year, and she was taking no chances. The first drops of rain splattered on her hand, and she shrugged her hood up quickly.

[Getting caught in the rain without any umbrella is one thing. Getting caught out in one of the worst thunderstorms of the summer, with pellets of hail falling out of the sky causing the sidewalks to be extraordinarily slippery, all while frantically trying to keep an entire folder of student papers dry... Well, that was certainly another. Francis Fell had been half-running, half-sliding his way down the block when the rain became particularly heavy, and found himself tripping over himself getting underneath the plastic awning that stretched over the bus stop bench.

With a groan, the college professor slumps down onto the seat of the bench, opening up the laptop case he'd been carrying over one shoulder and shoving the folder full of papers inside. Those would have to be dried out with a fan later, Heaven forbid any ink ran...

Believing himself to be alone, Francis mutters to himself as he zips the bag back up, keeping it close to his side.]

Bloody hell, it figures the one time that bell-end of a weatherman was right about the rain, I would forget my umbrella. Pregnant woman be damned, I'm not giving up this seat until the sky is done throwing its fit.

[Well isn't he quite a chipper person today...]

[Akito Tanaba was actually quite lucky to make it into the mall just as the downpour really started, so while he's damp, he's not entirely soaked. But the people he was planning to meet up with might not be so fortunate...

Checking his phone, it looks like there's only about five minutes until the official meeting time. He can't help but grin to himself as he imagines the surprise the others are going to be in for when they finally arrive.

Heh-- Hope they brought an umbrella.

[It's late, as he glowers at the fat, falling drops splashing against the pavement, his only shield from the wet, cold weather a bus stop that isn't exactly dry--the wind and cars as they pass are seeing to that.

And his only companion is a gallon of milk in his hand.

This is what happens when your wife texts you and tells you to pick up milk. This is what happens when you forget to pick up that milk. Why did he forget to pick up the milk?

It also doesn't help that he didn't grab an umbrella at the weather man's warning because he had been so sure he could make it back before the rain started.]

Surely it must end soon...

[Wishful thinking? Perhaps. He just wants to go home.]

[It's a scorching hot day, ridiculously so, perfect for staying in somewhere, directly in front of a fan the whole time. Any and all desire to go out is quickly quashed.

One Vaughn Inglebard, however, has had his plans for staying in completely and utterly ruined. Instead, the day finds him pounding on the door to his, currently empty, house.]

[Miata Belohnung: Work in progress app here . She's not happy. Miata had been prepared for the weather, having been a muggy day and all. She even had a really cute little umbrella to cover her head. But she didn't like how the air was so thick, and the rain had started so suddenly. There wasn't even a rainbow or anything cool to make up for it. How lame. At least she'd be where she was planning to go soon. She hoped.]

This is so dumb....

[She paused to look at an item in the window-and a hard stray gust blew it out of her hands. She yelped once at letting it go, then again at the hard smack of rain against her head. If Miata wasn't careful, she was going to end up looking like a drowned rat.]

Wait! Get back here!

[She was going to look so stupid, but she didn't care. She had an umbrella to chase after, because she did not want to get all sorts of water logged.

Besides. She liked her umbrella; it was such a pretty sky blue.]

[Jiro here is a professor at the LCU, though just now he's a guy walking through the rain. He's got his coat over his head, in a futile attempt to keep it off and--dammit, he just wants to get back to his apartment!]

Where'd this come from, anyway?

[Seriously, it was nice and sunny ten minutes ago, this blew in out of nowhere. If he'd known this was coming, he'd have taken a cab or something... there aren't any here now, and no bus stops, so he's got little choice but to keep walking.]

[Irene usually is fine with the wind, but not when it's this bad. Her hair is going to be impossible to comb out now, and that's going to put her in a bit of a mood, and then what was meant to be a soothing afternoon will all fall apart in some sort of domino effect.

Or so she thinks, anyway.

When she can, she ducks into the nearest building to get a touch of relief from it. Maybe it'll die down soon.]

[The one thing worse than preparing for a sunny day and getting a thunderstorm is preparing for a thunderstorm and then getting a sunny day.

Dr. Victor Utterson prepared for rain, and now feels kind of silly walking down the street carrying a closed umbrella over his shoulder and wearing a raincoat over his suit.

The brown-haired doctor might be familiar to some of the younger people around, since he's been a pediatrician for the past five years.

[ Outside, it's almost literally raining dogs and cats.

Which is good for Christine Lance, who's working for another four hours inside the cosy little bookstore down the street. She feels comfortable there, stacking up the new bestsellers of the month. Seeing the weather makes the store void of customers, she feels extra comfortable today, not having to deal with too many people. She's humming quietly to herself, not really expecting anyone.

However, while the store is rather hidden in an alley, the place makes a very nice shelter for anyone caught in the rain outside. Either that, or you must be a regular customer. ]

[ Wow, screw you, too, weather report. You said absolutely nothing about rain. Sophie checked you religiously and you said clear skies and nothing to worry about. It's just super lucky that she knows this area of town well enough to know there's a bench under an awning just over there...

And that Little Bear the guide dog knows where that is, too.

Sophie huffs, sweeping under the little miraculous only a few seconds before it really starts pouring down. The first few drops had been enough to encourage her to run through all possible shelters, and now...

Geeze, it sounds pretty bad. Sophie swept the ground with her cane, using it and Bear to find the bench. Then just sit at the edge, so Bear could sit by her, and slide the cane across her lap...

...Maybe she should call her parents. But they both ought to be at work around now, and it's not like waiting is going to kill her. Besides, she has excellent company. ]

I'm going to kill the weather man, though. [ Talking to herself? No, she's talking to her companion. ] Wanna help, Bear? I think we could get away with it.

[I'm a huge loser and I to play around with him. His app is here.]

[Thad is outside in the rain. He didn't look at the weather before going out, and he certainly didn't have an umbrella, so this is him running to any form of cover so he can wait it out.]

[Luckily he manages to get to one of those bus stop shelters. The seats are still wet somehow, like they always are, but at least the rain isn't pelting down on his head anymore. Now, he was just soaking wet.]

[He wondered idly, what street he wound up running down. It didn't look familiar. The again, he was so bad at finding his way around this city, that hardly any of the streets looked familiar. Coming and going three or four times a year in the last four years would do that.]

[Uh-oh.]
